Quick Takes: Three Things You Should Know About This Month

Print Article

1. Lehigh University Awards Deadline Coming Soon

Each year, the Lehigh University Awards showcase emerging talent and celebrate career achievement. These awards are based on nominations from people JUST LIKE YOU. If you have found yourself admiring someone’s impact on Lehigh or appreciating a colleague’s contributions, you should consider taking the time to nominate him or her for an appropriate Lehigh University Award.

The deadline for nominations for Lehigh University Awards is February 15. Don’t miss your chance. If you’re not familiar with the various categories and criteria, be sure to read the awards list web page. The Lehigh University Awards are presented at the annual Lehigh Appreciation Dinner later in the spring semester.

2. Two More “Meet The New GPS” Workshops Offered

With performance appraisal season heating up, you may be looking for some guidance in the use of the new version of our online tool, GPS. The Human Resources team has already hosted a number of well-attended workshop sessions, but if you missed out, you still have two more chances.

The final “Meet the New GPS” workshops will take place on Wednesday, February 12 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. and on Monday, February 24 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. To register, send an email to and include the following:

  • Your name
  • Your Lehigh email address
  • The name of the course for which you are registering
  • The date and time of the course
  • You’ll receive a confirmation email from HR that will include the program’s location.
Don’t forget, you can also review the workshop presentation online via the Power Point slides.

3. Thinking About Getting An MBA?

Did you know that Lehigh’s part-time MBA program is ranked 12th in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek? As a benefits eligible employee, you can access this high quality graduate program as part of your overall benefits package.

The College of Business and Economics wants to encourage Lehigh staff and faculty to explore the possibility of earning an MBA or other degree options. To help with the decision-making process, CBE will host open houses and other information sessions throughout the spring semester. You can see all of the upcoming events and register for one that fits your schedule via this link.

Last June, as part of Spotlight’s commencement coverage, we featured two Lehigh staff members who completed their MBA degrees. Read about their experience juggling work, family, and graduate studies in this article.
