Breakfast With A View And A Pat On The Back

Print Article

Recipients of Tradition of Excellence, Spot Bonus, and special Power Outage Awards recently enjoyed a delicious “breakfast with a view” in the Wood Dining Room to celebrate their achievements.

Awards committee members from across campus had sifted through hundreds of nominations from supervisors, co-workers, students, and others to determine the honorees throughout 2011-2012.

Associate Vice President of Human Resources Jackie Matthews welcomed the guests and introduced Provost Pat Farrell who offered his congratulations for the work that led to the awards.

“One of the great things about working at a university is that we're not in it for money or profit; we are building human capital,”
Pat said. “I realize on our most difficult days it’s hard to remember why we're here, so I thank you on behalf of the 7,000 students who may or may not know what you did to help them.”

Vice President of Finance and Administration Peggy Plympton echoed Pat’s thanks and praise. “The ‘snowpocalypse’ was an extraordinary event but every day there are extraordinary events that our students face for themselves and we help them face those as well,” she noted. “One of the things I love about this event is that we get a chance to say 'Hey, this is great.’  Not just the view and the quiche, but the incredible work that goes on here every day.”

honorees, can be viewed here.
